Recollection is a game about memory. It is played across multiple sessions - a week, a month, or longer.
In each session, players make simple decisions about objects or images. They record their choices. Between sessions, they review their previous recordings. In later sessions, they discover whether they made the same choices again, or whether they changed their minds without realising it.
The game reveals inconsistency in your own memory.
Each session runs 45 to 60 minutes. You play a session once per week, or once per month. The game takes as long as you want it to take.
We recommend playing for at least four sessions before reviewing recordings. Earlier than that, the patterns are unreliable.
Sessions consist of decision cards. You are shown an image and asked a simple question: "Do you prefer A or B?" You record your answer. You explain your reasoning in a sentence or two. That explanation is important. Later, you will read it and wonder if it still makes sense.
Between sessions, you review your previous answers. You read your reasons. You note patterns in your choices. You become aware of the things you thought were permanent about your preferences.
